Text Box: Mothers Union

Mothers' Union

The Mothers union is an Anglican organization, which promotes the well being of families worldwide.

 We achieve this by

·        Developing prayer and spiritual growth in families

·        Studying and reflecting on family life and its place in society

·        Resourcing our members to take practical action to improve conditions for families both nationally and in the communities in which they live.

We had a good day for our Garden Party – not too hot and only three spots of rain! We have had many people saying what a nice party it was.  Altogether with various donations, the Bring and Buy stall and the raffle we made exactly £100 which will be sent to Mothers’ Union charities.  Thank you Pauline for hosting the party and thank you everyone who in any way helped by donating food, by giving donations and by being there.

As I write we are working up our appetites, firstly for St. James the Great’s Safari supper on 14th July, to which five of us are going, then on Tuesday 20th eight of us are attending Great St. Mary’s Strawberry tea and on the 27th four of us will attend Holy Trinity’s Garden Party.

We have had a response to our plea for someone to take over the running of the Prayer Group.  Joan Lee will take charge, so thankyou Joan,  It will take place on each third Tuesday – please note the change of day – at 2.15pm so please contact Joan 321671 for the venue.  This will start again in September as the third Tuesday clashes with Holy Trinity’s Garden Party in July and in August we always take a break.

We do not have an official meeting in August but we still have our Corporate Mass on the first Wednesday followed as usual by T&C.  On the 9th August which is Mary Sumner Day Holy Trinity are arranging a coach trip to Ely with a conducted tour around the Cathedral.  Several of us have already booked for this trip

September brings us to our next meeting when Joan is giving us a talk and hopefully photographs of Joan’s Journeys.  I hope as many of us as possible will stay to hear her talk.

Lastly – but by no means least! – please remember Kath Barker in your prayers and bear in mind any other members who have been ill or who have had operations, especially Pam Shilitto who is recovering from her knee replacement – keep doing the exercises Pam! And Doris Price who has recently been in hospital.
